Beemster Classic Gouda makes an exceptional grilled cheese. Paired with smoky prosciutto, peppery arugula and rich fig spread - it’s like a cheeseboard in sandwich form!

Directions

  1. Spread a thin layer of fig spread on 2 slices of bread.

  2. Layer cheese, prosciutto, arugula on one slice of bread and top with other slice of bread.

  3. Melt butter (about 1 Tbsp) in pan over medium-high heat. Grill sandwich until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Flip sandwich, adding more butter to pan if needed. Grill until golden brown.

Tip: Do you hate it when you have a golden, toasted sandwich with cold, unmelted cheese in the center? Always grate or shred your cheese for grilled cheese sandwiches. The cheese will melt more evenly and quickly, and be done when the bread is ready.
